Rapid rescue? ketamine tested to halt suicidal thoughts in youth

NCT ID NCT04763343

Summary

This study is testing if ketamine, given as an IV infusion, can quickly reduce severe suicidal thoughts in young people (ages 14-30) who have recently attempted suicide. Participants are randomly assigned to receive either ketamine or a placebo (saltwater) infusion while in the hospital, along with weekly therapy sessions. The main goal is to see if ketamine leads to a faster and more significant reduction in suicidal thoughts compared to the placebo.
