Ketamine may ease shoulder pain after gastric sleeve surgery

Summary

This study tests whether giving ketamine during laparoscopic gastric sleeve surgery can lower the chance and severity of shoulder pain afterward. About 50 adults having this weight-loss procedure will be randomly assigned to receive ketamine or not as part of their anesthesia. Researchers will measure pain using standard scales in the hours after surgery.
