Scientists use ketamine scans to unlock secrets of psychotic illness
NCT ID NCT04589208
Summary
This study aims to understand the brain mechanisms of psychosis to help develop better treatments for schizophrenia. Healthy volunteers receive a very low dose of ketamine while undergoing brain scans to measure how the drug affects brain activity. Researchers are testing different low doses to find the smallest amount that produces a measurable brain signal, which could serve as a tool for testing future medications. The study is currently suspended.
