Air-Injection technique tested to halt thinning eye disease

NCT ID NCT07426029

Summary

This study tested a modified version of a standard eye procedure for people with keratoconus, a condition where the cornea thins and bulges. Researchers wanted to see if safely injecting tiny air bubbles into the thin cornea before the main treatment could make the procedure effective and safe for patients who were previously ineligible. They measured if this approach successfully strengthened the cornea and slowed the disease without harming the eye's inner cells.
