New surgical roadmap may sharpen vision for keratoconus patients
NCT ID NCT07540208
First seen Apr 23, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests a new guide (the Alfonso nomogram) for placing tiny plastic rings inside the cornea to flatten the cone-shaped bulge caused by keratoconus. The goal is to improve vision and eye shape in 25 adults aged 18-35 with moderate progressive keratoconus. The rings are not a cure, but they aim to control the disease and reduce the need for glasses or contact lenses.
