New combo treatment for stubborn scars tested in clinical trial
NCT ID NCT07526168
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study compares two treatments for keloids (raised scars that grow beyond the original wound). One group gets a special freezing treatment inside the scar (intralesional cryosurgery) alone. The other group gets the same freezing plus an injection of two medicines (5-fluorouracil and triamcinolone acetonide) into the scar. The goal is to see which approach reduces scar size and symptoms like pain and itching better. The study will include 32 adults with keloids that have been present for at least one year.
