New study tests freezing plus injection for tough keloid scars

NCT ID NCT07531056

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether adding cryotherapy (freezing) to a standard injection treatment (5FU) works better for keloid scars than the injection alone. About 88 adults with painful or itchy keloids will receive either 5FU injections every 3 weeks or freezing followed by the same injection. Researchers will compare scar improvement, side effects, and patient satisfaction over 12 weeks.
