Major trial seeks better shield for Kids' hearts against kawasaki disease
NCT ID NCT04078568
Summary
This large study is testing if adding a steroid medication (prednisolone) to the standard initial treatment for Kawasaki disease provides better protection for children's hearts. Over 3,200 children across China were randomly assigned to receive either the standard treatment or the standard treatment plus the steroid. The main goal is to see if the add-on steroid reduces damage to the coronary arteries, which is a serious complication of the disease.
