New drug shows promise for controlling severe schizophrenia symptoms
NCT ID NCT05919823
Summary
This study tested a medication called KarXT for adults in China who were hospitalized due to a severe worsening of schizophrenia symptoms. For the first 5 weeks, some participants received the drug while others received a placebo, and neither they nor their doctors knew which. Then, all participants could receive KarXT for another 12 weeks. The main goal was to see if KarXT safely reduced the overall severity of schizophrenia symptoms, like hallucinations and social withdrawal, compared to a placebo.
