Gene therapy injection aims to restore pigment in Children's eyes

NCT ID NCT07313618

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This early-phase trial tests a single injection of JWK010 gene therapy in 18 children aged 5 to 12 with oculocutaneous albinism type 1 (OCA1). OCA1 is caused by a gene change that prevents the body from making pigment, leading to vision problems and light sensitivity. The therapy is designed to help eye cells produce the missing pigment, potentially improving vision and eye structure. The main goal is to check safety, with secondary goals looking at vision changes and pigment restoration.
