New catheter could help doctors spot brain oxygen problems faster after cardiac arrest

NCT ID NCT06511999

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 03, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study tests a special catheter that measures oxygen levels in blood leaving the brain every second, without needing to draw blood. Researchers want to see if it is as accurate as the standard lab method in 25 comatose patients after cardiac arrest. If successful, it could help doctors detect and treat brain oxygen problems more quickly.
