New Clot-Busting catheter shows promise in leg vein blockages

NCT ID NCT07027878

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at how well the JETi device works in real-world settings to remove blood clots from deep leg veins (venous thrombosis). The device uses suction and tiny water jets to break up and remove clots. In 121 patients, the device successfully cleared at least 75% of the clot in most cases, with few serious complications like bleeding or re-clotting within 30 days. The results suggest the JETi system is a safe and effective tool for treating acute and subacute leg vein clots.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

JETi System (a catheter device that uses suction and saline jets to break up and remove blood clots)

What this could lead to

If successful, this registry could confirm that the JETi device is a safe and effective tool for quickly clearing blood clots from deep leg veins, potentially reducing long-term complications like swelling or pain.

What could go wrong

This is an observational registry, not a randomized trial, so results may be influenced by patient selection. The study is also relatively small (121 participants) and lacks a comparison group, making it hard to prove the device is better than other treatments.
