Jaw clenching may give stroke survivors a quick mobility boost

NCT ID NCT07612397

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether clenching your jaw can immediately improve walking and movement in people who had a stroke at least six months ago. Thirty participants will either clench their teeth on cotton rolls or keep their jaw relaxed, then take walking and balance tests. The goal is to see if this simple action can help with gait and functional mobility.

Active substance

voluntary jaw clenching with cotton rolls

What this could lead to

If it works, this simple technique could offer a quick way to improve walking and balance for people with chronic stroke.
