Shockwave combo may unclog calcified arteries better than standard care

NCT ID NCT07340294

First seen Jan 15, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding a special shockwave therapy (intravascular lithotripsy) to the usual artery-clearing procedure helps people with moderate to severe calcium buildup in their heart arteries. About 1,096 adults with coronary artery disease will be split into two groups: one gets standard preparation alone, the other gets standard preparation plus shockwave. The goal is to see if the combination lowers the chance of heart-related problems like heart attack or needing another procedure over two years.
