Experimental treatment trial launches for devastating Muscle-Wasting disease

NCT ID NCT06599697

Summary

This trial is testing whether intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) can help control anti-HMGCR immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy, a rare autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks muscle tissue. Twelve participants with active disease will receive either IVIG or a placebo over several weeks to see if it reduces muscle damage. After the initial blinded phase, all participants will be offered the IVIG treatment to gather more safety and effectiveness data.
