Can immune boosters fight toxic shock in kids? small study tests feasibility
NCT ID NCT02219165
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This pilot study looked at whether giving intravenous immunoglobulins (IVIG) to children with toxic shock syndrome is practical and promising. Toxic shock is a rare but life-threatening reaction to bacterial toxins. The study enrolled 30 children in intensive care to see if a larger trial could be done. It did not aim to prove IVIG works, but to check if recruitment, consent, and treatment procedures are feasible in this emergency setting.
