First seen Jan 15, 2026 · Last updated Jun 10, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding intravenous lidocaine to standard spinal morphine can lower the amount of morphine patients need after major abdominal surgery. About 76 adults having planned open abdominal surgery will receive either lidocaine or a placebo through an IV, and their morphine use will be tracked for 48 hours. The goal is to see if lidocaine helps control pain better and reduces reliance on strong painkillers.
