Summary
This study tested whether giving pregnant women intravenous (IV) iron shots is better than standard oral iron pills at preventing two problems: the mother developing anemia (low blood count) and the baby having low birth weight. The trial focused on women who had low iron stores but still had normal blood counts. Researchers compared the IV iron treatment directly against the usual care of taking iron pills.
