Iron shot aims to speed recovery for elderly hip fracture patients

NCT ID NCT06898814

Summary

This study is testing whether a single dose of intravenous iron given shortly after hip fracture surgery can help elderly patients regain their walking ability and independence faster. It will involve 210 patients aged 65+ in Denmark who have low blood iron levels after surgery. Participants will randomly receive either the iron treatment or a placebo saline solution to compare recovery outcomes like mobility, fatigue, and quality of life.
