Doctors investigate if IV fat drips change how blood clots

NCT ID NCT07470385

Summary

This study looked at whether intravenous fat emulsions (a type of nutrition given through an IV) affect blood clotting in hospitalized patients. Researchers analyzed existing medical records from 6,259 patients who received these fat emulsions for at least 5 days, comparing their blood clotting tests before and after treatment to patients who didn't receive the emulsions. The study did not change any patient's treatment—it only observed and analyzed information already collected during their hospital stay.
