IV drug trial aims to shield ICU Patients' stomachs

NCT ID NCT07399054

Summary

This study will test if giving an intravenous (IV) stomach acid medicine called esomeprazole can help prevent stomach ulcers and acid reflux in patients who are in the intensive care unit (ICU) after surgery. It will involve 50 adult patients to see how well the drug controls stomach acid levels over 72 hours and to check its safety. The goal is to find a better way to protect these vulnerable patients from a common ICU complication.
