Can a simple amino acid tweak in your diet fight prediabetes?
NCT ID NCT07329088
Summary
This study aims to see if adding back a specific protein building block (isoleucine) to a healthy, low-isoleucine diet changes how well the body uses insulin in people with obesity and prediabetes. Researchers will enroll 40 adults with obesity and metabolic syndrome. Participants will switch from a typical American diet to a controlled plant-based diet, with some receiving extra isoleucine to test its effects.
