NCT ID NCT02822768

First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looks at whether packing a skin abscess after draining it is really needed. About 196 adults who need an abscess drained will be checked to see if skipping packing leads to more infections or extra doctor visits. The goal is to find out if the usual practice of packing is necessary or if it just causes more pain without benefit.
