Obesity and iron deficiency: a hidden link to organ damage?

NCT ID NCT07157332

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looks at how obesity and low iron levels change where iron builds up in the body, like in the liver and heart. Researchers will compare people with obesity who have iron deficiency to those who don't, using MRI scans and fat tissue samples. After weight-loss surgery, they will track changes over six months to see if losing weight helps fix iron problems and improve overall health. The goal is to better understand these connections and find new ways to help people with obesity and iron deficiency.
