Could common anemia treatment reduce Blood's oxygen?

NCT ID NCT06309641

Summary

This study looked for a previously unreported side effect in people receiving IV iron for anemia. Researchers measured blood oxygen levels before and after treatment with two common IV iron drugs in 50 patients. The goal was to see if these treatments could cause methemoglobinemia, a condition that reduces the blood's ability to carry oxygen.
