Iron heart stent: a dissolving implant to unblock arteries

NCT ID NCT05205499

Summary

This study is testing a new type of heart stent—a tiny mesh tube—that is made of iron and designed to dissolve over time. It is coated with a medication to help keep a blocked artery open after it's placed. The goal is to see if this new stent is safe and effective for treating people with coronary artery disease, where plaque builds up and narrows the arteries that supply blood to the heart. Over 1,000 participants will have the stent implanted and then be followed closely for five years to check for complications.
