Summary

This study tested whether a supplement made from a cow's milk protein (recombinant bovine lactoferrin or rbLf) could help the body regulate iron better in healthy adults. Over 14 weeks, 92 participants took either the rbLf supplement, a similar milk-derived supplement, or a placebo to see its effects on iron levels, exercise performance, gut health, and immune markers. The goal was to see if this supplement could be a natural way to support iron balance and physical fitness.
