First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tested a new device that uses electrical pulses to treat a type of irregular heartbeat called paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. The goal was to see if the procedure could keep the heart in normal rhythm for a year without needing anti-arrhythmic drugs. A total of 142 people with symptoms that did not improve with medication took part. The approach is a form of disease control, as some patients may still need monitoring or future treatment.
