Breathing machine may keep disabled kids out of hospital

NCT ID NCT07473856

First seen Apr 15, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tests whether using a special breathing device called intrapulmonary percussive ventilation (IPV) at home, along with standard chest therapy, can reduce hospitalizations in children with multiple disabilities. About 146 children aged 1 to 16 will be randomly assigned to either standard care or standard care plus IPV. The goal is to see if IPV helps prevent serious breathing problems that lead to hospital stays.
