New hope for failing lungs: scientists test Double-Drug attack on deadly scarring

NCT ID NCT03939520

Summary

This study tested whether combining two approved lung-scarring (IPF) drugs works better than switching to the other drug alone for patients whose disease keeps getting worse. It involved 279 adults whose lung function declined despite already taking one of the standard medications. Researchers compared continuing the same drug, switching to the other drug, or taking both drugs together over 24 weeks to see which best slowed lung decline and was best tolerated.
