Personalized breathing machine settings fail to prove benefit in small ARDS trial
NCT ID NCT04012073
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study tested a new way to set breathing machines for people with severe lung injury (ARDS). Doctors used a special measurement to adjust the machine's pressure for each patient. The trial was stopped early after enrolling only 18 participants, so it could not show if this approach helped patients survive or recover faster.
