New drug trial aims to halt debilitating heart damage

NCT ID NCT04843020

Summary

This study aimed to see if a new drug called ION-682884 could slow or stop the progression of a serious heart condition called TTR amyloid cardiomyopathy. It was designed for a small group of older patients (65-85 years old) who had already completed a 24-month study with a similar drug. The main goal was to see if long-term treatment could protect the heart by reducing the harmful protein that causes the disease, using heart scans and exercise tests to measure progress.
