Clot-Busting drug may improve brain bleed drainage
NCT ID NCT05491356
First seen Mar 23, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study tested whether giving a clot-busting drug (tPA) through a small tube during surgery helps drain chronic subdural hematomas—a type of brain bleed common in older adults. Forty adults who needed surgery for this condition received either tPA or a placebo. The main goal was to see if the approach was practical and safe, not yet to prove it works better.
