Scientists probe the 'Leaky Gut' link in critically ill cancer patients

NCT ID NCT07022548

Summary

This study aimed to understand how often intestinal problems occur in people with blood cancers who are hospitalized in intensive care with severe infections (sepsis). Researchers measured specific markers of gut inflammation and damage in 80 patients to see if these issues are more common in cancer patients and if they affect recovery. The goal was to gather knowledge to help doctors better recognize and understand this complication in the future.
