First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study looked at whether teaching runners to use internal self-talk changes how hard they feel they are working during a trail run. 76 healthy adults aged 18-55 completed a treadmill test at a moderate pace. Researchers measured their perceived effort and psychological profiles to understand the connection between inner dialogue and physical exertion.
