Fasting diet shows promise for Drug-Resistant epilepsy

NCT ID NCT06013761

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This small pilot study tested whether intermittent fasting (eating only during an 8-hour window each day) could lower seizure frequency in 22 adults with epilepsy that doesn't respond to medication. Some participants also took medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), a type of fat. The goal was to see if the diet is practical and whether it helps control seizures. The study is complete, and results will show if this approach is worth testing in larger trials.
