Summary

This study tests if an extra stitch between the ribs during lung surgery can prevent a rare complication called lung hernia, where lung tissue bulges through the chest wall. About 104 adults having lung surgery will be split into two groups: one gets the extra stitch, the other gets standard closure. Researchers will check for lung hernia on a CT scan 3 months after surgery.
