Baby steps against diabetes: early lifestyle intervention may shield kids from T1D

NCT ID NCT06670625

First seen Apr 17, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tests whether intensive diet and physical activity advice given to families from infancy to age 2 can protect the pancreas in children with a genetic risk for type 1 diabetes. About 1,244 infants will be randomly assigned to receive the counseling or standard care, and researchers will track growth, autoantibodies, and diabetes development up to age 6. The goal is to see if a healthy early lifestyle reduces beta-cell stress and lowers the chance of developing the disease.
