First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study will test a new screening method for congenital hypothyroidism (a thyroid hormone deficiency) in premature babies born before 32 weeks. Instead of the usual single test, researchers will do two tests within the first 15 days of life to see if this catches more cases. About 1,600 newborns will take part, and those with positive results will be followed until age 2.
