New team approach aims to save lives of hospitalized drug users with severe infections

Summary

This study tests whether a special team that treats both severe infections and substance use disorders together can help hospitalized patients who inject drugs. About 480 adults will either get this integrated care or usual treatment. The goal is to see if the team approach lowers deaths and hospital readmissions within 4 months.
