Scientists probe why insulin fails to control fat in obesity

NCT ID NCT03866408

Summary

This early-phase study aims to understand why insulin, a hormone that normally helps control fat breakdown, doesn't work properly in people with upper body obesity. Researchers will study 64 adults, both with and without obesity, to see how specific fat cell proteins are involved. They will also test if a diabetes medication called pioglitazone can help fix this problem, with or without weight loss.
