First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tested whether high-intensity breathing exercises (inspiratory muscle training) could improve blood vessel health in people with heart disease before starting cardiac rehab. Eleven adults who had heart procedures like bypass surgery took part. For 4 weeks, some did strong breathing exercises while others did a sham version. Researchers measured blood vessel function and artery stiffness to see if the training helped.
