Veterans' sleep study tests therapy vs. therapy plus pill for PTSD insomnia
NCT ID NCT03937713
Summary
This study compared two approaches to help veterans with PTSD, sleep apnea, and chronic insomnia sleep better and use their CPAP machine more consistently. Fifty-three veterans received either brief behavioral therapy alone or the same therapy plus a prescription sleep medication called eszopiclone. Researchers measured changes in sleep quality, PTSD symptoms, depression, and how well participants stuck with their CPAP treatment over six months.
