Scientists probe the 'Hyperactive Brain' behind sleepless nights

NCT ID NCT07392177

Summary

This small pilot study aims to understand the brain biology of insomnia. Researchers will test if a sedative drug (dexmedetomidine) can calm a specific brain area called the locus coeruleus during sleep in 15 adults with insomnia. The main goal is to gather knowledge, not to treat symptoms, by measuring brain waves and pupil size to see how they relate to hyperarousal.
