Brain zzzs: new study targets Insomnia's 'Alarm Center'
NCT ID NCT07392177
First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This small study aims to understand what causes insomnia by testing a drug that may calm a brain region called the locus coeruleus during sleep. 15 adults with insomnia will receive either the drug or a placebo in random order. The goal is not to treat insomnia directly, but to see if reducing activity in this brain area changes sleep patterns, helping researchers learn more about the condition.
