First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tested a simple idea: give hospital doctors regular feedback showing how their antibiotic prescribing compares to their peers. Researchers provided educational sessions and bimonthly email reports to 147 hospitalists at four hospitals. The goal was to reduce unnecessary antibiotic use and improve patient safety. The study measured changes in prescribing rates and tracked infections like C. difficile.
