Simple blood test could predict transplant complications

NCT ID NCT07570407

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looks at a new method to measure special immune cells called iNKT cells in the blood of patients who have had a stem cell transplant. These cells may help predict serious complications like graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) and relapse. Researchers will test 75 adults with acute myeloid leukemia to see if this monitoring method is practical and useful.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to a simple blood test that helps doctors predict and manage complications after stem cell transplants.

What could go wrong

This is an early feasibility study with only 75 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. The test is not yet proven to improve outcomes.
