Summary

This large study tested whether a long-acting injection given every two months (cabotegravir) works as well as or better than a daily oral pill (Truvada) to prevent HIV infection. It enrolled over 4,500 HIV-negative men and transgender women who have sex with men and are at high risk for HIV. The goal was to see if the injection is a safe and effective alternative, which could help people who find it hard to take a daily pill.
