Inhaler training slashes ER trips for kids with breathing trouble

NCT ID NCT05555134

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study tested whether teaching children (ages 2-15) with bronchospasm and their families how to properly use inhaler chambers can reduce how often they need to visit the emergency room. Half of the 121 participants received the special training plus usual care, while the other half received only usual care. Researchers then tracked ER visits at 1, 3, and 6 months after the training to see if the education made a difference.
