Breathing in medicine to fight ICU lung infections
NCT ID NCT07369336
Summary
This study tested if adding an inhaled antibiotic (amikacin) to standard intravenous antibiotics helps patients with ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) recover faster. It involved 180 adults in intensive care who were on breathing machines and had developed a lung infection. Researchers compared the standard treatment alone to the standard treatment plus the inhaled medicine, looking at how quickly patients improved and how long they needed the ventilator.
